Real Owners, Real Results

A recurring case study series about businesses on Knomart, and the standard each one has to meet before it appears here.

This is where detailed case studies of businesses running on Knomart will be published. Because a case study is marketing that readers are asked to treat as evidence, the standard has to be set before the first one appears.

What a case study here will include

  • The business, named, with the trade and roughly where it operates
  • The specific problem that led the owner to change something
  • What was actually implemented, and which apps
  • How long it took, including the part where nothing improved
  • Measured results, with the basis of measurement stated
  • What is still not solved

Where the honesty has to sit

The implementation period. Every business that changes how it records things goes through a stretch where the new way is slower and the old way has been abandoned. Case studies that skip that period are describing something that did not happen, and they set up the next merchant to conclude they are failing when they are simply in week three.

Numbers with their basis attached

"Sales up 30%" means nothing without knowing over what period, against what baseline, and what else changed. Any figure published here will carry that context, and the owner will have seen and approved it.

Where the improvement cannot be separated from other things the business did, that will be said rather than glossed over.

What none of it predicts

One business's result is not a forecast for another. Software does not create demand; it makes what is happening visible so the owner can act sooner. Two shops on the same street with the same app will get different outcomes because they are different businesses.

Nothing published yet

A useful case study needs a merchant with enough trading history to show a before and an after, and a willingness to be named. Publishing something thinner in the meantime would make every later study less believable.
