Privacy policy

1. Overview

Knomart is a brand of Knomart Community ("we", "us"), a company registered in Kenya. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we store it, and your rights.

2. What we collect

Account data — name, phone number, email address, and business name. Collected when you sign up or your agent registers you.

Transaction data — the records you enter in your apps (sales, collections, expenses, customer details). This is your business data; we process it only to run the service.

Usage data — login times, pages visited, device type, and IP address. Collected automatically to maintain security and improve the service.

Payment data — M-Pesa transaction references. We do not store card numbers or M-Pesa PINs.

3. Why we collect it

To run your business apps, authenticate your logins, process payments, send you service notifications (SMS/WhatsApp), and comply with Kenyan law (KRA eTIMS where applicable). We do not use your data for advertising.

4. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data or business data with third parties for marketing. We share data only with: M-Pesa (Safaricom) to process payments, SMS gateways to send OTP codes, and KRA for eTIMS compliance where you have enabled it.

5. Where we store it

Your data is stored on servers in Europe (Hetzner, Germany) and Africa. Backups are encrypted and retained for 90 days. Data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher.

6. How long we keep it

While your subscription is active, we keep all your data. After cancellation, we retain it for 90 days so you can reactivate or export. After 90 days, it is permanently deleted. We may retain anonymised, aggregated statistics indefinitely.

7. Your rights

You can at any time:

  • Access your data via your account dashboard or by requesting an export.
  • Correct inaccurate data from your profile page.
  • Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us.
  • Export your data in standard formats (CSV, PDF) from within the app.

8. Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics scripts, or third-party advertising pixels.

9. Data Processing Agreement (DPA)

If you are a business that requires a signed DPA under GDPR or the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, contact us at hello@knomart.com and we will provide one.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes are notified at least 14 days in advance via email or in-app notice.
