Building a Bench: The Members You Call Back

The first good member you find should not have to be the last good member you work with. Build a small bench of people whose work you know, so the next task starts with better information.

Every merchant eventually learns the difference between finding someone for one job and knowing who to call when the next job appears.

A bench is simply that second group: members whose work you have already seen and who may be a good fit for future opportunities.

Start With the Work You Have Actually Seen

Do not build your bench from names alone.

After a member completes work, consider what you now know about them. Did they deliver what was agreed? Did the work match the requirements? Was the result useful to your business?

The point is not to create a private list of favourites. It is to remember people based on real work and evidence.

Use the Profile as Part of the Picture

Knomart member profiles provide several useful signals: Profile Strength, total jobs completed, average rating and badges held.

These details give you context when choosing someone. A strong choice is not necessarily the person with the highest single number. Look at the evidence together and consider whether it fits the work you need done.

Remember What They Were Good At

Your next task may be different from the last one.

A member who handled one type of work well may be a useful person to consider again when a similar opportunity comes up. But do not assume that good performance on one task proves capability for every task.

Match the person to the actual requirements of the new work.

A Bench Is Not a Guarantee

Keeping a shortlist does not mean you must always choose from it.

New members may have the right skills. A different person may be a better fit for a particular job. Your previous experience is useful evidence, not a reason to stop looking.

The same principle applies when a member's circumstances or profile change. Reassess the fit for the work in front of you.

Build It Through Good Work

The best bench grows naturally. Post clear work, choose carefully, check the result, confirm genuine completed work and pay through the platform's process.

Over time, completed jobs, ratings and badges can give you more evidence to work with. The member also builds a reputation that can matter when other merchants are choosing.

Call Back for a Reason

When the next suitable opportunity comes up, your bench should answer a simple question: Who have I worked with before, and who has evidence that they can handle this kind of job?

That is the value of a bench. It turns past work into better-informed future choices without turning past success into a permanent shortcut.
