What you are deciding when you join
Accepting Diamonds is a merchant decision. It connects your shop to a redemption programme in which members can use Diamonds for eligible goods at participating merchant shops.
The important question is not simply whether you can accept them. It is whether accepting them makes sense for your shop, your customers and the way you want to participate in the local economy.
Think about the customer you want to serve
A member who has earned Diamonds has a reason to look for a place where they can use them. For a merchant, that can create another reason for a customer to discover the shop, visit and potentially buy beyond the value being redeemed.
That does not mean every merchant will benefit in the same way. Consider the products you sell, the customers around you and whether Diamond redemption fits naturally into your business.
Joining should be a business choice
Do not join simply because other businesses are doing it. Understand the programme before you opt in, and make sure the terms are clear enough for you to make a decision you can live with.
Your goal should be a programme that brings useful customer activity to your shop without creating a business commitment you do not understand.
Leaving matters just as much
A redemption programme should not feel like a trap. The Master Plan specifically calls for merchants to be clear about both joining and leaving because acceptance may churn, and a merchant who feels trapped can leave with a negative experience.
If Diamond acceptance stops making sense for your business, the decision to leave should be understandable and straightforward under the programme's rules. A good merchant programme respects the fact that business circumstances change.
Ask these questions before you opt in
- What goods can members redeem Diamonds for at my shop?
- What does accepting Diamonds require from my business?
- What costs or operational responsibilities apply?
- How will redemption affect my normal customer and payment workflow?
- What is the process for leaving if the programme no longer works for me?
Join because it makes business sense, not because you feel locked in. A healthy redemption programme should make participation understandable, useful and voluntary.
